Yogyakarta, April 25, 2024 – Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta received a visit from a Hungarian Delegation initiated by the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest. The event, which took place in the Citra 1 Room of Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta, became a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties between Indonesia and Hungary in the field of education.

The Hungarian Delegation was led by Ifan Mahdiyat Sofiana (Dept Head of Information, Social and Cultural Section of the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest), and involved representatives from Higher Education Institutions and Educational Institutions in Hungary, namely: Dr. Szabó László (International Office-Gabor Denes University), Dr. Vörös József (Head of Research Department-Gabor Denes University) and Mr. Atyim József (Entrepreneur) Adviser.

In his welcoming remarks, Arief Setyanto, S.Si, M.T., Ph.D (Vice Rector IV for Cooperation & Development), introduced Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta to the Hungarian delegation. He also highlighted various international collaborations that have been established, such as the Silvanus Project, Garuda-Ace Young Researcher Collaboration, Erasmus Student, Lecturer & Staff Mobility, and others.

During the event, Dr. Szabó László provided an overview of the outstanding computer technology programs offered by Gabor Denes University. These programs are designed to meet market demands, with a focus on practical aspects and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and mobile development.

“We also offer micro-credential programs, which are short educational programs that provide specific skills or knowledge in a particular field. These programs offer high flexibility for students and are recognized by many universities in Europe, as well as open up job opportunities in various European companies without the need for additional training,” said Laszlo.

Laszlo also expressed his hope to enhance cooperation, including research and student exchanges with institutions in Hungary. During the meeting, Amikom and the Hungarian delegation explored various potential mutually beneficial collaborations, such as joint research, collaborative projects, scientific publications, student, lecturer, and staff exchanges, as well as internship programs.

The visit of the Hungarian Delegation to Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta is part of a routine Indonesian promotion program organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest in the form of a Familiarization Trip (Famtrip), aimed at further introducing Indonesia to the Hungarian delegation.

Ifan Mahdiyat, as the leader of the Hungarian delegation, stated that the visit aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the Indonesian education system and map out various opportunities for future cooperation. The Indonesian Embassy in Budapest is also ready to support and facilitate any collaborations that arise between the two parties.

“We see great potential in introducing Indonesian educational institutions in Hungary, which is a member of the European Union and provides access to the entire region. This enables wider collaboration with Indonesian educational institutions, such as AMIKOM,” he said.
